Back in Melbourne: 12. Banff, Ben, Bucket, Bon Voyage

After moving our stuff to what would be our last place in Melbourne, we enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Banff. The building where it’s located has an interesting history. During WW II, the apartment portion was used as an army barracks by American and Canadian soldiers, and the restaurant portion (where Banff is located) was used as a galley to cook meals for the soldiers!

It was a hot, humid day, so later on we walked down to Chapel Street for ice cream — Ben and Jerry’s!  Mike and I had The Tonight Dough (soooo good!), and the kids had Phish Food.

Happy Cows…and Happy Kids! 🙂
Silly cow and silly kids. 🙂

Another afternoon we walked back over to the super fun wooden playground for a bit…

…and then continued on to the Albert Park Driving Range!  We did the beer & bash & driver deal — a beer for Mike and me, a bucket of 100 balls to share between the 4 of us, and clubs for us to use. Perfect!  Hitting from the top deck game me the impression that I could actually hit the ball high and far! 🙂

On the way back to our apartment, via Albert Park Lake, we spotted these beautiful black swans and another interesting bird (but we don’t know what it is).

On our last full day in Melbourne, we spent a rainy morning packing up and reorganizing our stuff for our flight to…New Zealand!!  Around 5 pm, Delia picked us up for a last dinner gathering at their house — tasty tacos and a delicious mayonnaise cake(!) that T made!  We had plenty of game time for the kids and lots of laughs and good conversation for the grownups before we had to say bon voyage and see you soon! 🙂
